My Daily Top 10 for Full-Body Beauty, Health, and Wellness
As a Physician Assistant, I provide comprehensive dermatology services including adult, pediatric, and cosmetic dermatology. It probably won’t surprise you that my perception of beauty, and how I encourage my patients to view it, too, is a reflection of what’s happening internally- including your mental and physical health. As we all know, when we feel our best, we look our best. So it is important to consider full-body wellness and the role that your lifestyle plays in achieving healthy, glowing skin.
Many of the patients that see me for a cosmetic consultation are there because they feel as if they have aged overnight, or do not look or feel like themselves anymore. There can be a lot of emotion, anxiety and uncertainty tied into how we feel that we look. Sometimes I am the first stop on someone’s wellness journey, hoping that a skin boost will give them the energy or motivation to start taking care of themselves. Other times, I am the last step. When someone has taken control of their health and is now feeling their best, and they want their skin to match how they feel.
During these cosmetic consultations I always start by talking about wellness before digging into specific cosmetic concerns and treatments. Together we review diet, exercise, sleep, stress management and any other medical history. I am not a wellness coach or expert, but as a medical professional and person who values my health, I am a dedicated wellness seeker. Wellness certainly does not require any products; the greatest things we can do for ourselves are free - sleep, rest, move, meditate, drink water, and seek healthy and nutritious foods. We had a Peloton for years before I discovered this gem. I love their meditation app! You can select different length meditations depending on how much time you're able to give it in your busy schedule. In my experience, starting with guided meditation is 100% easier than trying it solo.
