At Shopderm, we're passionate about sun protection. And because it is so important, we opt for products that have been tested rigorously and that have proven, visible clinical results. That's why the Revision Skincare IntelliShade collection of sunscreens is our personal favorite.
With a growing list of options to choose from, it can be difficult to determine which Revision Skincare IntelliShade product might be right for you. Use our guide below to understand the differences between each product and choose the one that will work best in your routine, and for your lifestyle.
Understanding the Types of Sunscreens
Sunscreens can be divided into two categories: chemical and mineral. Like Texas Health describes, one way to understand the difference is by picturing chemical sunscreen like a sponge. It absorbs and deactivates harmful rays so that they can't do damage. Mineral sunscreens, on the other hand, operate more like mirrors, reflecting damaging light rays away from your skin.
Mineral sunscreens offer the most protection, and are the option I'd prefer my patients use; however, I always say that the best sunscreen is the one you'll actually use. So if you prefer a clear sunscreen (chemical), there are still some great options available for those, too.
